8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist
This is a spoken service of word and communion, based on the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), without hymns or service music. It is a quiet service intended to offer a tranquil start to the week. Some of our parishioners choose to sit in the chancel (near the altar), while others prefer to sit in the nave (body of the church)- the choice is yours.
9:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist
This is a more relaxed and informal service that takes place in the chancel and uses a variety of sources and musical styles. You will find hymns with organ and unaccompanied music from world cultures. Though this service is intentionally geared toward families with younger children, people of all ages find meaning here. Many participants enjoy close proximity to the action at the altar and sit in the choir pews (chancel), but others overflow into the nave (body of the church).
10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist
This is our principal service of worship on Sunday mornings. Following the Book of Common Prayer, this service reflects our parish’s particular expression of the Episcopal tradition. A little more formal in nature, it is nevertheless relaxed and welcoming to all, including families with children. Both the Adult Choir and young Choristers sing psalms and anthems at this service on a regular basis, and a sermon is offered by our own clergy or by lay preachers and visitors. The service begins and ends with organ music during which many people meditate and prepare themselves for the week ahead.
5:00 p.m. Choral Evensong (as Scheduled)
Sung at the close of day in churches, chapels, and cathedrals throughout the world, Evensong is derived from the ancient offices of vespers and compline. Consisting of sung prayers, psalms, and anthems, it is an opportunity to listen, sing, and meditate before the start of a busy week. Sung by full choir once a month, there is no sermon. Though the service is almost entirely sung, Evensong usually lasts under an hour.
