PROPERTY
The Property Committee, a vestry standing committee, oversees St. Paul's. physical plant.
The team is responsible for building maintenance and capital expenditures, for grounds maintenance and seasonal cleanups. Property has a hands-on approach to it job, working as volunteer painters, gardeners and repairers.
Key efforts during the coming year will be to direct capital expenditures, particularly toward life-safety items. We will be directing efforts to replace outdated electrical work and plumbing. We will be replacing uneven walkways, emergency lighting and handrails. We will be checking fire protection systems. We will be getting the rectory in good shape. The church will have a fresh appearance throughout.
St. Paul's is a leader in energy conservation, as noted by our award from Penn Futures in October. Turning off unneeded lights and other conscious efforts to use less power resulted in a substantial savings. Some of the savings have been applied to our switch to wind-generated power. We will be continuing to reduce electrical energy consumption through replacement of incandescent lights with compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). We will maintain our new butterfly garden.
Keeping the building envelope sound, conducting water through proper channels, providing new lighting in the sanctuary and rejuvenating our magnificent church keeps the committee thoroughly absorbed.
