FUNERALS

At St. Paul's, we regard the burial rite as an Easter liturgy. It finds meaning in the Resurrection, emphasizes Baptism, and conveys a strong sense of joy and celebration.

In trust, the faithful submit the one they have lost to God, who cares for every person at every moment in life and at death. Though the burial rite conveys the joy of resurrection, it also acknowledges that grief is a powerful and natural human expression. Experiences of grief are inevitable; they do not reflect on one's faith or lack of it but demonstrate the capacity for love. We view the funeral as part of the grieving process.

For details regarding funeral services at St. Paul's, please call the church office to request a copy of "A Customary for Burials," revised and updated July 29, 2004.

The Columbarium

Cremation has commended itself to an increasing number of Christian people in recent years. St. Paul's Church has set aside consecrated ground on the south side of our church for the interment of the cremated remains of our deceased parishioners and others. Those wishing to reserve places in the Columbarium or explore the possibility should contact the parish office. A member of the St. Paul's clergy will preside at interment services. The arrangements for cremation, however, should be made with your undertaker, since the function of St. Paul's Columbarium is interment only.
