Sustainability tip of the week

By Ian Howell , 1:35 pm

For those looking to get rid of unwanted or expired batteries, there are more options than you might think.  Household Batteries (A, AA, AAA, C, D, 9v) Whole Foods Markets offer battery drop-off points in their stores for recycling.  Rechargeable Batteries Best Buy: Area Best Buys will accept two electronic items a day, including rechargeable batteries. A new non-profit set up by the non-rechargeable battery industry called the ‘Corporation for Battery Recycling’ is working on an environmentally positive and economically sustainable solution to handling single use batteries. You can stay updated on their progress by visiting http://www.recyclebattery.org
