Villanova Day of Service was a Gift that will Warm St. Paul’s for Years

By Ian Howell , 8:00 am

We are grateful to the thirty Villanova students who spent last Saturday painting our crypt. As you know, we host homeless families for a month each year in our crypt rooms. The rooms lacked any color and looked down at heel. Now they boast warm colors of green, blue and yellow. View a number of photos from their day of service here. The Northwest Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network helps families to transition to homes of their own. After entering this program, 92% of the families never return to shelters. It is very effective. Our own Virginia Emlen heard about the Annual Villanova Day of Service program at a meeting of area parish administrators. We knew right away that this service program could create a more warm and welcoming transitional home for the families that stay with us.
